My First Art Showing: A Heartfelt Reflection

An unforgettable night filled with family, community & Connection

Last night marked a milestone I will never forget. My first public art showing was a joyful and enriching experience, filled with moments that I will carry throughout my lifetime.

Today, as I slowly settle back into normal life, I find myself reflecting on the precious memories created throughout the evening.

Family

One of many gifts was the presence of family, whose encouragement and support made the experience even more meaningful, with a sense this was less about me and more about us all sharing in and soaking up this lived experience together.

Friends

Reconnecting with friends added another layer of joy, and the conversations with guests were another highlight of the night. Many people paused to share their own stories and memories linked to aviation. These conversations reminded me how art has a unique ability to bring people together.

A dream (came true)

A dream came true last night as I sold my first piece of art! Bentley, a professional pilot who along with his wife, picked out Hurricane Skies. Later in the evening, Kurt and his sister selected Santa Catalina Mk9 and P51 Hun Hunter for their father who also has a deep appreciation for the Supermarine Spitfire. These gestures made the night yet more profound.

Gratitude

I am grateful to everyone who attended, listened, encouraged, asked questions, and supported this first step in sharing my work publicly. Your presence made the evening genuinely memorable, and I am thankful for the kindness that filled the room.

Lessons Learned

I will share in a follow up post what I learned from the experience and how I hope to grow from it. For now, I remain deeply grateful for the love, enthusiasm, and community that made my first art showing such a meaningful milestone.
